Large Retail Chain Engages SVI to Replace Legacy Time and Attendance System
To address the functional and technology limitations of the retail chain’s existing Time and Attendance System, SVI was contracted to replace the legacy system with a distributed multi-tier architecture with a web-based frontend using data integration to integrate with the PeopleSoft HR back-end.
System conversion activities included the design and implementation of an n-tier architecture, design and implementation of an integration infrastructure using MQ Series, and the design and development of batch integration applications using a combination of Java and COBOL on the mainframe and business services using J2EE and Websphere for the web-based components.
Used by all hourly employees geographically dispersed at more than 1,000 locations, the system streamlined data collection, validation, and correction by introducing automated business controls. Data integrity was enhanced by providing for real-time data transfer from multiple locations to the central Employee Service Center.
